5 Ways to Show Support for May’s Celiac Awareness Month

celiac disease

Did you know that May is celiac awareness month?  This is the time where we can spread the word about the impact of celiac disease and the importance of the gluten free diet.

In honor of May, there are a few events (online and locally) that I would like to share with you all!

 1. May 6th, 1pm, at Choices Market Kelowna

I (Selena, RD) will be holding a free, local event at Choices Market in Kelowna.  It is a one hour event and I will be chatting about simple meal planning strategies for the gluten free diet.  You will also get to taste test a very popular recipe among my clients! There will be time for Q&A of course too.

2.  May 7th, 12pm, CDN celiac association, Okanagan Chapter, Potluck in Lake Country

The Canadian Celiac Association, Okanagan Chapter, will be holding a gluten free potluck.

3.  May 16th is International Celiac Day

Show your awareness of celiac disease and the gluten free diet by wearing green.   The color representing celiac disease is green so be sure to rack the closet for something green that day to show your support!

Take a selfie and tag #celiacawareday on Facebook.  Tag @healthbean nutrition too!  I would love to see you guys sporting your green colors!

4.  May 17th Canadian Celiac Association Webinar

Join the Canadian Celiac Association (CCA) for two 1-hour webinars about food labelling hosted by the CCA’s Sue Newell.

5. May 31st Online Canadian Celiac Association Facebook Event

Registered dietitians (including myself!) with specialties in celiac and gluten sensitivity as well as the CCA’s Sue Newell will be available on Facebook to answer your most pressing questions all day long!
